Just after transferring out of my college course (aircraft technician) to a design one. Loving every aspect of it, except for the 200eur + I'm shelling out for the equipment and consumables :(

So need a bit of advice and recommendations on what shops to head to for most of the stuff. The student discount should come in handy in some places, but it's still going to add up.

Some of the more important things to get:
    • Tool Box + Chain and Lock
    • Diary
    • Black felt pens - .3, .5, .7 (edding)]
    • Standard pencils - HB, 2H, 3H, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B
    • Set (12) 'good quality pencils' (Rexel, Derwent)
    • Set of Pantrone Markers - process black, cool grey 3&6, two other colours)
    • Box of medium size Charcole
    • Set of Chalk Pastels
    • 2 x A2 Card Portfolio Folders
    • 1 x A3 Marker pad
    • 1 x A2 Layout Pad
    • Hard-Back sketch book A4+
    • Masking + Double Sided Tape
    • SandPaper (pack)
    • All Purpose Glue
    • Lighter Fluid

    And that's just the consumables.

Now I'm not asking someone to price everything for me - but just to point me in the right direction for the best deals on some of this stuff.

    Thanks in advance

K & M Evans Art Supplies - it's just off Capel st. at 28 St. Mary's Abbey it's along the Luas line. This place is brillant for nearly everything!!! This is where a lot of teachers that there stuff for school. Paper, card, plastacine, modelling clay, pipe cleaners, pencils etc etc. This is the cheapest place I found when in Art college. And the staff are really helpful.

You should get most of the stuff you need if not everything there and they give a student discount. 10% I think

It's abit out of the way, it's along the luas line. Coming from the jervis stop head back towards the four courts stop and you should keep walking down till you reach a kinda run down looking area and the shop is up a lane so keep looking out for the sign

If you don't want to break the bank you will have to make a few stops. Don't just go into an art shop and buy it all there.

Buy from the art shop the pens, pencils, charcoal, chalk pastels, folders, marker pad and layout pad...

Shop around woodies, discount shops etc for the toolbox chain and lock also the masking & double-sided tape, glue and sandpaper, bag a bargain if you can.

The diary can be had in bargain book shops and alot of discount stores sell fairly decent sketchbooks.

    good luck
