I had the pc on & my younger brother pulled out the plug, so i turned it back on & i had it on for about 5 mins when suddenly the power in the tower went, There is still power coming through the monitor..Ive tried everything like pulling all the wires out & putting them back in etc..Its a Packard Bell with Windows XP & ive had it for a few years now, i use it for mixing music etc & playing games..i dont wanna lose all my data

Any suggestions for a possible fix?

Did you try a different power lead on the tower?

Sounds like it really could be that simple especially if the brother was a bit heavy handed when he yanked it?

To secure your files first you must pull out the IDE and power cable to you hardisk. then try to check your power supply and AVR maybe there was a flucktuation of power on one of them. Only if you are not see a light in power indicator. if has, check the memory and video card or if you are using two seperate memory check each of them...

Sounds to me like the power supply has haddit.
You might be lucky and find a blown fuse in the power supply (replace with same rating fuse and not tin foil :-)).
WARNING: Make sure the power cable is removed before opening the power supply - also beware of capacitors (look like batteries) they store power and can shock/burn you sh1tless!!!
