I just looked at the first one, and matched the spec on the Dell website.

Th Dell price comes to EUR 1175 including VAT and shipping. So 1499 for the HP doesn't look that great.

Granted, with the Dell you don't get the HDMI output (do you have a HD TV?), or a built in webcam (overrated), or a finger print reader, but you can decide if these are worth 324+ euros.

They also don't mention support/warranty, so you'll need to check these out.

I'd go Dell and spend the extra €324 saved on beefing up the warranty...I'm predicatable in my recommendations but I think the warranty is the most over looked part of any laptop specification.

Am I the only one who hates HP?!!1!
Plenty of people hate Dell tho' I'd imagine the above laptop is an Inspiron or possibly a Vostro.

I've never had a HP laptop but I have a HP desktop at the moment and its perfect!

Why exactly don't you like HPs?

Build quality , reliabilty , style...I was talking to a HP rep in PC World who was doing demonstrations of new models and when I queried him about the lack of reliability in the older models that I repair, he said they weren't concerned with "old" models just their new range...Now I've had 3 HP laptops all just outside their 1 year warranty in to me in the last month or two, all with severe problems (ie. motherboard issues which weren't cost effective to try and repair for the end customer) so this is where my distain for HP stems from but I never really had a great liking for them.
