Heath Ledger has been left physically and mentally drained by his latest role as 'The Joker' in the new 'Batman' movie.

Ledger has found his latest role as a mass-murdering psychopath difficult, with the part leaving him so disturbed he is finding it almost impossible to sleep.

He says: "It is a physically and mentally draining role. He's this psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown. It takes a lot of preparation to play.

"Last week, I probably slept two hours a night. My body was exhausted."

Most likely a load of marketing hyperbole, but still a nice indication of the direction Nolan is taking the character IMO.

This is the first time in a long time I have felt genuinely excited about a movie this far from release.

Agree with you, most likely to drum up more anticipation. Also agree with you , its the film that I am most looking foward to myself-The only way it could sound better than already is if Cillian Murphy was in it!

Presumably he finds it easier getting bummed in a tent.

    Wasn't he spotted on set?

I have said it before regarding this film, and I'll say it again: it is going to rule. I had intended not to get caught up in the marketing, but I am failing miserably. They are doing it too well.

Murphy was indeed spotted on set, filming a scene in a multi-storey carpark with Julia Roberts' more talented brother, Eric, who plays Salvatore Maroni.

AH i would have loved to see Mark Hamil play the joker but he is probabally to old for the part now.

    It's going to be Ledgen..dary.

I really cannot wait to see this. The marketing thus far has been amazingly well done.

Technically he did the bumming while Gyllenhaal laid back and thought of oscars.

It's a thought but we can only wait and see. I mean...who could have seen the Matrix debacle coming?
I'm staying optimistic because it's good to be so every once in a while.

I am still shuddering at the thought of the Batpod.

I think Nolan's proved he's a very competant director, so I doubt this'll be the case. If you've any doubts, go back and watch The Prestige again and think to yourself "This is the last film he's done before The Dark Knight."

You know, maybe it's just me, but I've seem to become imune to hype and getting my hopes up. I don't think I've been let down by a film recently at all, only suprised.

I suppose I had been let down severely in the past, but I guess I just know better now.

I think this movie is going to kick bat-ass next summer..we'll all be there in the cinema eyes agog with sweat bristling in anticipation of the Dark Knights antics, and we will NOT be disappointed.
