wat benefits are there to installing leopard on a macbook that already has mac os x on it
if leopard is a 100% 64 bit os, will it reduce the heat issue the macbook has, will it also imprve battery life?
wat others benefits come with installing leaopard n a macbook with a core 2 duo?!

I'd also like to hear of the benefits of leopard and not the features. I heard it uses more ram than previously. Kinda expected this and not a problem as I've 4gb ram but any way to deal with the fans? Battery life would be nice too.

shouldn't this be in the leopard merged thread?

I would also like to know about the 64bit business.

    - 64Bit Application code + 64Bit OS + 64Bit CPU = faster
    - generally the features are the benefits, and the major reason why one would upgrade otherwise we'd all still be running System 7 :p
    - I'm running a G4 with 768MB RAM and i've found it actually uses less memory.
    - OS X's power management was pretty top-notch even back to 10.2/10.3, i've noticed neither improvement nor decrease in my battery life, I can push 4+ hours if i'm careful.
    - I can't comment on the fan issue, my PBG4 is fine.

Perhaps someone with a macbook could share their experience?

Most of the benefits are under the hood for developers to take an advantage of. Which will means really cool future apps. But, you will need Leopard to run them with all the candy. As far a heat and battery life, I have defiantly noticed an improvement. My MBP(32bit) seems faster too.

I have a MacBook wtih 3GB ram and recently installed Leonard.

In terms of performance, I've noticed that some Apple apps like Mail and Safari seem quicker, some 3rd party apps too like LightRoom and PShop.

The biggest difference is in networking performance. I work in a mixed environment - OS X, Windows and Unix boxes all over the building, and networking has become easier for sure. Mounts mount without delay, and if something gets "unmounted" unintentionally, Finder doesn't hang like it used to. No more spinning beach balls from the network department.

I like it. I like spacesand quickview or whatever it's called. I love Automator although that's been there for a while ...

I've had a few kernel panics, battery life is good but not dramatically better or worse, I can only guess from the estimated time left. Fans don't seem to have changed from Tiger, but there again I never had a problem with that - they come on when the machine is worked hard, end of story.

All in all a good upgrade I think although I am underwhelmed by Time Machine, I'd like if it was MUCH more customisable.
