Folks, just a minor question re poor reception quality.

My set up is : TV,
2 sky digiboxes( one is hd box)
    1 dvd recorder

TV Channel no's 1-RTE 1 , 2- RTE 2, 3-TV3, 4-TG4 ,5 . SKY FTV BOX, 6 SKY HD BOX. DVD Recorder and SKY DIGIBOX Connected also by Scart and the HD Box by HDMI. My minor prob is I cannot get the signal perfect through the HD BOX on channel 6. There are waves on the picture. I think one of the many cables is affecting it. Has anyone any idea which of my cables may be conflicting each other? It is only through the coax this happens but that means the reception on my other two tv's is then similar. I have nearly managed a couple of times to get it right without success.Watching through the HDMI all is 100% ... any advice appreciated. Cheers

    ok, a few things there,
firstly the digiboxes should be viewed through scart ot the hdmi lead on the main TV

there is a few things that may be affecting the quality of the rf out from the 2 digiboxes,
-firstly the rfout channel on them may be too close together,

-there may be noise (or even a transmission) on the same channel that is coming in through the aerial, ( try plugging the aerial out to test this). some aerial boosters put alot of noise into the cable, try unplugging them if they are before the digibox's and getting a better quality one.

-just try moving the rf output channels around to find a clear clean channel.
if that cannot be found you can buy a small filter (band pass filter) that will block a range of channels thus keeping them clear for the rfout from the digiboxes.

Also check the quality of the cable and connections..

    hope this helps.

Changed the RF Outlet last night on the offending digibox to ch 55. solved the prob 95% . only place I have the waves(Interference)now is on the same channel through the dvd recorder. Settings I have are RTE1,RTE2,TV3,TG4 on 39,42,45 and 49 respectively. FTV Digibox , 21, SKY HD box, 55(one with the slight prob). anyone suggest which RF Outlet number may get rid of interference totally?? thanks

    Hi Widescreen,
I usually use frequency 22 or 25 with your current setup in the Limerick area. However if you are using an aerial masthead your signal may be a little too strong from your aerial to pass through your skybox so an adjustable attenuator should solve your problem. You can purchase one of these in Electrical factors in the eastern business park on the Tipperary road. They are manufactured by televes.

    Hope that helps,
    Steve

Try channel 69 :o, it is usually free,
also as you are not recieving any VHF channels try decoupling the aerial in cable right before the sky box this can solve some of that slight interference you mentioned,

    to decouple follow link here,
Don't decouple after the SKY box as this will block the TV link RF2 power

Hopefully your aerial installer used a group B(channel 35 to 53) masthead Amp, a wideband one will cause slight interference on stations outside the range that your aerial is recieving. So try channels above and below 35 to 53

Also if the HD box is beside the DVD recorder I would try connecting that with a Scart Cable.
