I know this mightn't be the best place to start the thread, please move if you think it should be moved (and you have the power of course ;) )

Just wondering if anyone has gotten this game yet? I'd get it myself but I got rid of my PS2 last year and replaced it with a 360.

Whereas the Gaelic Football game was ok (borderline terrible to be honest) I thought it was great cause it's the closest we're going to get. What are your opinions on the hurling game?

After the pathetic excuse for a gaelic football game they released last time round, I wont be wasting my money on this. Then again, nothing is ever going to measure up if the benchmark we use to compare it to is Pro Evo.

very good point, we will always compare them to Pro Evo or FIFA, I havn't found anyone that has bought it yet

Is the new football game any better than that last crock of sh1te?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,255 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

Is anyone brave enough to even waste a fiver renting it after the last crock of sh!te.....

I always wondered what the GPA version of the game would be like.I heard it was going to be great and then the GAA interfered and went with their own one which was sh1te to say the least.

Yeah, the fact that it doesn't even have the players names makes it infinitely worse. It's not as if it would have cost much to do so.

Pro Evo 2008 or Gaelic Games? Decisions decisions! :D

Pro Evo isn't getting the accolades it usually does this year.Apparently the commentating and music are dire?

Commentary and music in Pro Evo is always dire! I do prefer the last Pro Evo to the new one though.

I'm very curious as to this hurling game, I know it'll be a piece of crap but I just really want to play it!

    Found a review here http://www.hurlingblog.com/

I'm amazed how no-one has gotten it yet to be honest, when Football came out loads of people go it straight away, I don't know anyone that have gotten it yet.

If I still had the Ps2 I honestly don't know if I would have gotten it, I got Bainsteoir on the PC as well

I think the reason people haven't got it is because the football game was sooo bad.

    Is Bainisteoir any use?

True. People were all excited about the first game and were expecting something decent. Even when we heard a couple of bad reviews, we were willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe because there are less hurling strongholds than there are football strongholds. It'll sell in KK but will people from Armagh want to pick their county which would get torn apart by KK by at least 40 points.

Would the people of Roscommon, who have a tradition in football enjoy being reminded of scores like this. Antrim 9-39 (66) Roscommon 0-5 (5), a 61 point loss.

This is an actual score from 2 teams that were in the same competition, the Christy Ring Cup in 2006. So its not as if I was bull****ting in my previous post saying KK would beat Armagh by 40 points, in fact it would probably be worse.

Bainstoir is terrible to be honest, imagine Football Manager from about 8 years ago that just does stuff for the sake of it. I have a high end machine and a low spec laptop, the game runs the same on both, they have put pauses into the game for the sake of it which wrecks my head, I also won every match, had great morale in the group but still got fired, seems to be something it does for the sake of it again, so I put it back in the box and hoped that my donation may mean a new release in the future.

they brought out A football and hurling one. Got the first one for my nephew when it came out. I got it for him on the saturday, he looked at me with disgust. He rented it the friday to see what it was like and after one blast of it, promptly took it out of his PS2 returned it and asked could he change it for Grand Theft Auto or something. If I had known. . . . . We should all write to Konami, "you know what you did for soccer??? Well, watch hurling and gaelic football and come back with something similar"

they would be very difficult games to get right, especially by jumping straight in the deep end when people know what games can be.

The original FIFA games were fantastic and every year they added to them, now we have almost TV like graphics with improved game play (and even an alternative competitor). The GAA games are coming in on the back of the very little development.

Saying all that, I would love EA to get in on the market using NHL and FIFA as the engines for the games
