Anybody find this movie a little dry...? its a great movie but..

its not exactly boring because its interesting true story but its just so understated, I don't know if the timeline is filled out properly, but you don't get a sense of the passage of time affecting the two main characters, how long is the time span of the film? it seems like the story was told from a to b to c and thats that
comparing it to goodfellas, godfather particularly scarface, its a very similar story but less charismatic. I mean people say denzel is charismatic but he actually doesn't play a loud character, his number one crime rule is keep your head down, which is blown by some bad fashion choices by his wife... I mean it takes a long time for crowe's character to realise who he should be going after and then they never meet until he's arrested, theres one short scene but most of the rest of the story is told in text on the screen.

it seems the crooked cops were the bad guys of the movie rather then the black drug dealers, i couldn't quite take crowe letting his son go and never visiting him

im going to have to watch it again.

I have to say I liked it, it was an interesting story and that was enough for me. It's a fair point about the timeline not being exactly coherent, on the other hand its good to fill in some of the story in your mind. I thought it was an interesting story
Lucas is basically a guy in the right place at the right time who spots an oppertunity and goes for it. I liked Crowes character better. Turning in the money, not many people would do it.

I thought it was about a six, tbh i was expecting a new Goodfellas given the hype (and presumably alot of people were, it was on the biggest screen and there wasnt an empty seat in the place.)
It was good enough, but some parts didnt add up. Really, they get wind Denzel is the importer of the new batch of pure heroin by seeing him in a good coat and hanging with mobsters? He had rolled with these people all his life, it wouldnt have been enough to single him out for further investigation. And how come the cops noticed his jacket, but nobody got suspicious as to how a guy who seemingly didnt have a job bought himself a penthouse and his mother a massive country mansion? (and all this being done while he repeated Conways rule of no extravagance re flashy outfits and cars)

I find it hard to tell sometimes where review ends and discussion begins, but this is/was already being reiewed/discussed here.
