EL Team of the Season

Don't think Drogheda are anything like a great team and caught a league in transition after Shels imploding.

Still they did have some outstanding players like Shelley and Robinson & especially Bates who was the diamond in the rough for them.

Sligo and Shamrock Rovers arent far off top 4 status and with a more investment they could make more of a challenge next season. Both situation depend on the finance issues, but the way Scully has wielded the axe, he has even higher ambitions.

Down Cork way it has been another disappointing campaign. Even with the "Fifa 2" there were not enough quality players in the squad. Rico continues to baffle me with his selection policy with O'Callaghan and Softic making regular appearence in the team when they IMO clearly fall short of what is needed. New owners need to splash the cash to convince the Cork public and even some of our own players that they are serious.

    My team.

    Brian Murphy(Bohs)

    Ger O'Brien(Rovers)--Murray(Cork City)---Ken Oman(Derry)--Shelley(Drogs)

    Fahey(St. Pats)--Gamble(Cork City)--Kudosovic(Sligo)--Robinson(Drogs)

    O'Donovan(Cork City)
    Dave Mooney(Longford)

    Notable mentions

    Ger Rowe(Rovers)
    Gartland(Drogs)
    Conon Byrne(UCD)
    Darren Murphy(Cork City):o
    Tadhg Purcell(Rovers)
    Owen Heary(Shels....I mean Bohs)
    Pat Kavanagh(Bray)
    Alan Kirby(Pats)

i lol'd at darrren murphys inclusion, what did he play, half a game??! made two surging runs, but then lost the ball repeatedly?? people claiming he's some sort of messiah baffles me!

would have had neal horgan in that team for sheer consistency, and barry ryan in goal

Two drogheda players in the team, you're having a laugh. Gartland and Zayed definitely should be in there

EL is muck, doesn't deserve a team of the season.

    Darren Murphy shouldn't be there...

Brian Murphy deserves a lot of credit along with Heary, McGuiness and Burns are by no means top class centre halves making our defensive record all the more impressive.

The Four Players are there on merit

2 are in the Ireland u-23 squad,
1 is on the pfai team
and the other is fans player of the year and has a better work rate than anyone else this season.

they all deserve to be there

    Course they do:rolleyes:
So Sligo have more players in your Team Of The Year than any other team in the league despite finishing where in the league?

    brian murphy

    brian shelley----gartland----ken oman----connor powell

    keith fahey----joe gamble----robbo----derek o brien

    dave mooney
    Zayed

    some tough choices there
powell just got the nod over webb
    oman over murray
    gamble over adam hughes

i picked robbo it the centre because that is were he was at his best this season
i struggled to pick a left winger none have really stood out for me
i also tried to pick players in the position they play in instead of just 11 players playing anywere

    Who is robbo? :o

if its Robinson easily player of the year would have him over fahey any day.

    yeh sorry it shane robinson.
fahey had nothing to do with me picking robbo in the centre i picked him there because that is were he was at his best this season. he played prob 70% of his games this year in the centre and was outstanding.

still think shelley for player of the year;)

Those surging runs have stayed with me longer than any of Softic's plodding runs.

He's been the story of the season for me. Player of Month suddenly banished for no apparent reason.

I included him to for shock value.
