ok downloading games for free is illegal and can't be advocated on boards, but if "homebrew" is your thing then the PSP is the way to go without a shadow of a doubt.

if games are your bag, then the DS wins hands down.

The DS also has a vibrant homebrew scene, doesn't it?

DS has better games but psp has better homebrew

I would have thought it depends on your style of games. The PSP has much more realistic console type games just like the Playstation 2.
The DS, being nintendo is more cartoon style games and great puzzle games etc.
You will not get the likes of Grand theft auto on the DS for isntance.

To be honest, the DS is pretty cheap as is the PSP over there. Get her to bring back both. The one you do not want you can use as a christmas gift.
Remember something about the PSP though, its not just a console its a media player. Movies, music etc. You can even convert any video file to psp format, put on a nice 4gb memory stick and watch movies and tv episodes in the car, on a plane (very handy)...
And if you have a PS3 you can use your psp to remotely access it.

got the latest pandora battery (ultimate or something?) working over the weekend, it's just getting easier and easier!

also used the psp slim, anyone else prefer the old one? the slim seems cheaply made and a bit flimsy??

I have not used the PSP slim, i like the weight of the old one just fine. The only thing the slim has that i would like is the video out port. In fact i recently got another thick psp for my wife, it was the pink one. The slim is not out in pink, at least not in Europe anyway.

as a "fat" psp owner, when i tested the slim, it looks nice and does everything it says on the tin, but compared to my own psp, it feels a little cheap because of the weight.

A DS with anb R4 card does practically everything the PSP can and you get the better game selection of the DS to boot.
