    Is this matrix based on what you can lift once? or based on a weight you should be able to complete a set with?

    2 weeks ago, I started at 40kg deadlift 3sets of 8 (I am 100kg) I am now lifting 60kg 3x8.

    According to this chart, I should start at 72?

    Excuse my ignorance, still in learner mode.

    I don't really understand the questions?

    The table plots one rep max versus bodyweight and ranks you accordingly.

    As of this morning my 1rm for deadlifts is 87kg, according to the calculator.

    If sites or people quote weight with no mention of reps you can take it for granted it is 1RM being quoted. Makes sense to do so, they have no way of telling what your rep range is and it complicates things.

    I wouldnt, this appears to be the same as crossfits figures.

    in which "untrained" means
    the term "untrained" refers to the expected level of strength in a healthy individual who has not trained on the exercise before but can perform it correctly. This represents the minimum level of strength required to maintain a reasonable quality of life in a sedentary individual.

    So to me "untrained" means somebody who has lifted before. I would not start any beginner on those weights. And I also imagine by crossfits standards they have deemed 90-95% of the population as unable of having a reasonable quality of life.

    Well I lifted 70kg 3x8 this morning. I started slowly three weeks ago, because I had never done it before and didnt know what my maximum strength was. It was damn hard the first time (at 40kg), but easy enough once I got the form correct. I have been incrementing the weight each weights day until I find it really difficult. I dont really have a personal trainer, so figuring out a lot of it from here and other places on the net.
