Hello ,I'm looking to find a complete surround system that has HDMI in and out. And also has optical in.

I've looked everywhere ,but the stand alone amplifiers seem to be the only ones with hdmi in and out. I don't really want to get into buying surround equipment ,because I'm only looking for a basic system.

Is there anyway of utilising the hdmi for sound ,rather than just getting it from the upscaler that would come with the system ?
They all seem to have just a HDMI out,which I presume is only visual.

Any light on this would be appreciated ,
