Claiming personal bankruptcy in ireland

I am stupidly in debt of about 20,000 euro's to the bank which was signed for by a guarantor, along with a 5,000 euro's credit card debt and a further 3,000 euro's credit union debt.
My debt is causing huge stress in my life and I'm thinking of claiming bankruptcy!
My questions are....what are the repercussion of claiming bankruptcy in Ireland and will the guarantor have to pay the bank back the 20,000 euro's?
Help on this matter will be hugely appreciated.

This forum is not for legal advice, but here are a few links that might help:

For general information on bankruptcy, try the
    courts service guide

I might toe the line of the charter and say that bankruptcy is not a good idea - it's financial game over. Try the Money Advice and Budgeting Service before you make any decisions.

You might also wish to speak to a solicitor to see if there is any way that you can get out of the debt. If you can't afford a solicitor you could try your local Free Legal Advice Centre or even your local Legal Aid Board Office.
