Níl morán gaeilge agam agus chuir mo chara ceist orm faoin fuaimniú ar an ainm "Duibhdhormaigh".

    Break it down.
    Dubh - dorm - agh.
    Du-ve - Dorrm - ig.

Thats how I read it, but I've not come accross that word before.

Thanks. Sorry I actually mispelled it, it's "Duibhdhiormaigh". I missed an I.

    Duv - Gyor - Mig.

I've never met the word before, but that's how I'd say it...

I would pronounce that div-gyor-mee (roughly)

But it's genitive, does your friend know this? It's only Duibhdhiormaigh when it's mac Duibhdhiormaigh or Ó Duibhdhiormaigh.

So if someone is trying to revive complicated Old Irish proper names, Duibhdhiormach (div-gyor-mock) seems to be the guy somebody thought was cool enough to name their descendants after for posterity.

    Just in case ;)
