My second internal HD stopped working on me recently, made some wierd clicking noise and just died and I haven't been able to access it since. It has all my photos/videos from the last 5 years or so and stuff like that. Nothing important to the running of the computer but I would like to get the stuff back if possible. Is there ny way to do this myself?

If the hd is still working but just not booting you could dl Ubuntu & mount the drive. But from what you described (clicking) i'd safely say its fcuked. Should have backed up when ya heard that clicking.
You could try putting it in a sealed plastic bag & putting it in a freezer to see if you can get it to work once to try to restore the files. This can actually work sometimes.

You could buy some data retreival software off the net and try get the data back yourself or if the hard drive can't be detected by anything and is totally dead another option would be to send it to a data retrieval company and get them to have a go, bare in mind this is very exspensive can cost up to a grand.

Ontrack is a good company but exspensive.
