Hi all, Quick question. I'm going for an interview with River Island on Monday. I'm thinking of wearing black skinny jeans tucked into black boots with a white blouse. My mam has me doubting it now though as she's saying ''are you not going to wear a pair of smart black trousers!''. Would this be more appropriate? I thought i would try look trendy :cool:

Dress smartly for the interview. Look trendy all you want on the job but make the extra effort for the interview.

absolutely black trousers! I do recruitment for a uk high street retail outlet and I would be horrified if anyone turned up in black jeans, no matter how trendy!!very important you look professional and create the right impression, you dont want the interviewer focussing on your appearance instead of you!

It is very true that first impressions are so critical, I do make up my mind very quickly when I meet someone for interview..big smile, confidence, impeccable appearance and a good handshake does it for me all the time.

once you bag the job if they dont have strict uniform criteria then trendy jeans it is!:)

I presume the OP was asking because River Island is a clothes shop, so being trendy and au fait with the current fashions would be important.

But I'd say the black trousers, yeh
