live is for the internet, mms is for picture messages. It stands for multi media message

hi, if you are using a Treo you may want to use the POP / IMAP email, or other 3rd party apps needing a full / open internet connection, which requires use of their ISP connetion (compared to their Live! connection which is just a WAP gateway)

configuration setting are provided in this sticky at the top of the forum:

be aware of the cost associated with data access over the mobile network, check what packages are available to you from your oprator and the services you can access with those packages

    www.powermyphone.com settings

we've had operator settings provided in a sticky on this forum for years now:

in case you've missed it ;)

yeah i know the thread is there but it has an awful lot of info in it that's not relevant to this problem like email settings and isp settings and old settings etc and has at least one error in it. i wrote the settings on the page i linked to myself so i'm more confident in linking to it and it only shows the relevant info

yeah i've noticed the site being linked to on occasion, is it yours?

cool, if you spotted an error it would be great to get it fixed, where was it? not sure how our own sticky isn't relevant though, covers all the Vodafone settings you could enter into the device

p.s. noticed on your linked page the ISP connection name is listed as: Vf Live!
Calling it something like 'Vodafone ISP' would be better, as it doesn't have anything to do with the Live! service, and calling it and the Live! connection the same thing might cause a bit of confusion if they entered in the access point details verbatim (having to seperate APs called the same thing etc.)

    should be

i mentioned it before in a thread but no one took any notice :(

and there's a bit more information here that would be handy to have on the sticky

you will of course notice the same vf live! error :)

it does but then he doesn't need all the settings you could enter in a vodafone phone, he just needs the live settings. whenever i used that page i was never quite sure which version of the settings i should be using
p.s. noticed on your linked page the ISP connection name is listed as: Vf Live!
you're right. that wasn't intentional, copy/paste error. the settings would still work but it should be changed anyway. i'll get onto the admin.

it's best to PM me, i ask for people to help out in the last post in the sticky and usually get updates in every few weeks...

i'll have a read thru that post thanks :)

we do keep some legacy info incase anyone has an old handset they are trying to set up, so maybe that is making our settings look a bit bigger / complicated... you've raised a good point...

i notice you mention in your post "the sticky isn't being updated for some reason" but if you look at the edit details on the original posts in the sticky (at the end of the posts) you can see the O2 one was updated just 8 days earlier to your post (17-08-2007), meteor was edited the same month (ref their ADD service) and again last month (17-10-2007) - and tescomobile this month... so we are working at it ;)
