MH110 - BA in Multimedia

    anybody do this course??

    what's it like??

    is it more media creation based or the technical side of media??

    any other general comments?!

    Hey Adam

    Multimedia is (from what i can see so far) very technically based. We do two media modules in first year, which teach us media thoery and what makes media work or not work as the case may be. We also do Computer Science (in first year we do intro to programming but we do alot more computer based modules in later years). And our only creative outlet is our production lab. This semester we're doing Video Production, every second week we're out with cameras. Next semester we move onto editing video and sound (on some very pretty looking iMacs). It's no easy option, you really need to be into both the technical and creative sides to suceed here and you must have the patience to read alot! Honestly, so far its good. Its only new this year so there's teething problems for us but it does look good for future years. One other comment... In third year all the electives are computer based, thats where the course becomes far more technical and computer based than its name lets on :P

    In the prospectus it advise you to take maths in 1st yr, would you agree to this? Is there a maths element throughout all the years of the course?
    Would be it also be ok if you were doing ordinary level maths?

    I'm considering sticking my name down for this course for 2010 as well, and would love to know what the previous poster asked. On the other hand, how does this course stack up against the BSc in Multimedia? How hard would it be to make your way through the Phsyics and Maths in first year so as to avail of the paid work placement in 4th?
