Is my car stereo jiggered?

I've an Audi Concert stereo (Bose).

The TP light remains on, the only buttons that seem to work are the manual tuning knob on the right and the volume/on/off knob. I can't turn on the CD player or the Phatnoise box (depressing). Flicking the volume knob fast switches the radio to a different station!

I'm hoping there's a magic reset button somewhere  as a replacement unit seems ultra dear.
    No idea what caused this..
    Car's out of warranty now.
    Thx

Get the radio fault memory read with VAS5051 - any main Audi dealer will do this. See what faults (if any) are logged and take things from there.

to reset the head unit, you can remove the battery terminal for few seconds or remove the main power plug from the back of the head-unit.

Do you need special stereo removal keys for that?

Yes. The radio has 2 small cuts (one on each side) and you need to insert some special keys in there to realease the locking system.
