Does this drink have any helpful qualities or is it a glorified bottle of sugar??

As far as i know they replace the salt and sugar that you lose while sweating, so can be more effective than water in this regard

I read somewhere that reduced fat milk was actually better for rehydrating you after running / sport than lucozade... Don't have a link to back this up though.

Although it can't be very convienient bringing a carton of milk out on a 10 mile run or to the gym :D

If it is a weights workout then the milk will slow down your protein absorption, e.g. if you mix whey with milk it is meant to be absorbed slowly like casein.

I have wondered about this, people recommend whey & water or juice immediately after a workout. Instead of straight after what about 10mins from the end, in that way it is immediately in your system, no rushing around to get it straight after and if drank with milk it would be slow release and could be drank before hand. I much prefer whey with milk anyways, and used to drink it before a workout, and during, and after.

Twis great for hangover's, although it helps to shake it to get rid of the fizz.

Not exactly scientific, but mixing a pint of water with a pinch of salt and a tea spoon of sugar, will make you a basic isotonic drink.

    No kidding?? Interesting...

I always crave milk in a big way after a training session - why is this?

It has a mix of protein & carbs/sugar- just what your body wants.
