Liver Function Test

Right I'm a 25 year old male of good health, average weight/height etc.

Anyway about 3 months ago I was ill and so had some blood tests, a few weeks passed by and they called me in again and told me my liver function was slightly abnormal and so booked more blood tests for a months time, I took these and then 2 weeks later (ie today) I was called in again; where they have said it is still high and have asked me to come back in another month for another test....

As this is getting a bit ridiculous I asked him for my reading to check it myself, he said it was 23 on the bilirubin test when normal would be 19 and jaundiced 35.

So is 23 ok then? I'm not going to die of liver failure anytime soon?

I asked one person who said that 27 was where the danger would start for someone my age, is this correct?

If its just the bilirubin he's concerned about, no you dont have much to be worried about, it could be something called Gilbert syndrome which is just where your bilirubin is a little bit higher than normal. It doesnt cause too much trouble but doctors like to rule anythng else out eg jaundice, so that's probably all that's happening. Maybe lay off the drink for the moment so that you can be sure thats not the reason the bilirubin is high.

That's worrying. I had a load of boodwork done & he said one of the liver counts was @ 40!

He said I'd been drinking too much but I don't think I'm worse than others. (though when I do drink it's binge drinking, have cut down since in case I get the test again) Do antibiotics affect it?

No follow up tests were suggested so possibly something different

your doctor will explain all - liver tests being mildly off can mean that there is something brewing which could be serious down the line - hang on in there until he's happy and ask him why he is worried enough to keep recalling you.

Cheers all for your answers, has put my mind at rest, its just the lack of information made me think the worse as you do. I'll take the next test and see what they have to say then, I have to say the tone of todays appointment was quite jovial compared to the others so that put my mind at rest already a little.

Hi friends, for loosing my current weight I want to start on diet pills because I am not seeing any results of my excessive diet and exercise. But I was wondering is there a diet pill that doesn't make any unintentional damage in fat on the breasts? Unfortunately I don't have large breasts, they are the perfect size, not too big not too small and I don't want to loose anymore weight in them.
