i need to buy a new fork, and stem for an dawes hybrid road bike i'm bringing back to life after i smashed it to bits 6 months ago.

can anyone tell me how i identify what size steerer i need? i.e. 1inch or 1,1/8 inch?

do i need to mesure up my headset or something?

    regards, danny.

If you still have the old fork, remove it from the bike and measure the diameter of the steerer tube.

If you smashed the fork in a crash, double check the frame to make sure it's not bent or cracked anywhere.

If you are looking for a cheap stem, I have a 140mm ITM one. Will do either steerer size with a shim. To suit 25.8mm bars (I can supply them as well ;-)
