ok, so im going to start this thread off, firstly i will say that there are many locations reputedly haunted here in ireland, the problem is getting permission to investigate them, most are listed historical buildings, necessitating the taking out of event insurance and the signing of disclaimers etc, before you even given permission to investigate. A much better approach, is to ask people to post up their locations and put them forward for an investigation, which could be attended by members of a group, all welcome, sceptic and believer, scientific and psychic , and that way, there is a place on this forum to coordinate investigations etc. any thoughts????

Great idea! I would certainly be up for this.Great to have a thread just for anyone to give ideas and plans of locations for investigations as thats what many of us are here for.
One place i've heard of recently is WoodLawn House in Galway, its a massive derelict building but in not so bad shape, just wonder how easy access would be? and also one place i've always wanted to do would be Malahide Castle which i've never heard of being investigated though not sure if it would be possible. Then you have the usual Ross Castle,Charleville Castle,Leap etc.
    Hopeful this will take off.

if you google the places youll find most of them have an email address, send them an email and let them know who you are what you do,etc
then you will find out whats required for the investigation,
always send them a mobile and land line number so they know you are serious
    best of luck

unfortunately malahide castle do not allow paranormal investigations, i have looked into that already, i have investigated, ross, leap, charleville, blackwater, drimnagh, etc, but i was hoping for some new unexplored locations.

Would a totally 'new' place, as in somewhere that no one has ever claimed to have had an experience, as opposed to a fairly famous place that's been investigated often, be an idea. An old grave yard perhaps or something similar. I really don't know what's involved in an investigation tbh so I'm just throwing out that idea of a graveyard (I know one near me, old abandoned and spooky even in the day time) which is in palmerstown. Don't know if electricity is needed for equipment etc. Actually someone might give a little run down of how an investigation is carried out for the uninitiated like me, if they wouldn't mind.

As I said, I would love to investigate Glasnevin Cemetary, its really really old and its steeped in History. If you go to the very back of the graveyard, to the really old old sections you can even see bones scattered amongst the clay......

The thing about investigating a graveyard is that you need permission and well understandably it could be seen as disrespectful or may not be something that the families of those buried there would like.

Outdoor investigations bring their own problems too with regards to enviromental issues such as noise pollution of any recordings etc.

I think its always a good idea going somewhere that hasnt been looked at before - personally I dont see the point in going to the standard castle to investigate - anywhere with a bit of history can be haunted and lets face it - every piece of land in the country has a bit of history.

the problem with graveyards is that people only get buried there - its a bit like assuming funeral parlours will all be haunted. theories abound that 'ghosts' like to visit places they are accoustomed to which would kinda leave out graveyards ... unless of course they loved to visit graveyards when they were alive. still though, a lot of graveyards are based on older settlements of churches, abbeys etc so there may be something from that.
Actually someone might give a little run down of how an investigation is carried out for the uninitiated like me, if they wouldn't mind.

I always found the TAPS videos on youtube a great introduction to how to investigate.

go to the garda staion show some id,s of the group give them a copy and ask the garda to give you a letter, then go o the office at the graveyard tell them what you are doing ,you will get more respect from them if you have have ids, that are confirmed by the gaurds that means anything else going on in glasnevin finglas or other wise you will have more luck in getting into,

weve done it and it works.

I wonder if Kilmainham Jail would be available for an investigation, was there the other day and the place is fantastic (and creepy) would be a dream location, imagine all the echos of past events in a place like that. While visiting it I noticed certain rooms you walked in to you would feel major shifts in atmosphere, i'm not sensitive to the best of my knowledge but I could certainly feel this and have never before experienced this.
