Do we think they will arise from the ashes? Laptops are the thing, and realistically iQon can only rebadge them.

meanwhile Lenovo triple profits on back of laptop sales.

    From Financial Times:
Turnover at Co. Louth-based computer manufacturer Iqon Technologies fell slightly last year, reflecting a drop in sales in Ireland and the UK. The company registered a turnover of EUR62.1 million in 2006, compared to EUR64.3 million in 2005. When this drop was combined with rising distribution and administration costs, the company moved into the red in 2006, making a pre-tax loss of EUR805,440.

There was an article in the Sunday Business Post yesterday which really paraphrased a press release, but the gist of it was the fact that a large percentage of their business was with Tesco and Tesco gave a no-quibble money back guarantee. This appears to have hit them hard, given the high level of returns.

I'm not sure which is sillier. Buying a PC in Aldi /Tesco/ Dunnes / Lidl /Co-op Superstores, buying the brands they sell or the supermarkets deciding to sell them. There is a reason Peats & 3G whatever stores sell Apples. Not that I would ever buy an Apple (over priced and over hyped for what they are, and don't run my specialist SW, Linux + XP on the one laptop via VMware does everything).
