Next year i'm taking a year out and planning on traveling around a section of Europe for around 4 months or so.

Any groups/singles doing the same thing who would not mind another??

any advice on where and what preparations i should make?

any hostels or orther accomodations suggested in the eastern europe area?

I'll greatly appreciate any help, thanks.

Traveling around Europe doesn't hold much interest for me. So can't help you too much there.

I can imagine Europe being quite easy enough to travel around considering you won't need visa's for the EU countries and i'm not sure if you would need any vaccinations. So at least you don't have to start preparing them things.

One of the most important things will be your backpack since it will practically be your home for the 4 months or so. It will be worth paying the extra few Euro's and you'll appreciate it once you're on the road. Don't pack lots of clothes and items that are easily available the world over as you'll regret carrying them around. Buy cheap clothes and such and throw away along your travels. Buy a money belt cause you will come across pick pockets at times and the ****ers are skillful and creative. Also buy a pair of cargo pants or something loose and get hidden pockets sewn into them. What thieves can't see they can't rob.

i wouldn't try plan everything to a t. Have a rough itinerary and work around it. You'll meet loads of people and end up going with them to different places for a while. If i was traveling around Europe. I'd start in France and work my way towards Italy and then up through Eastern Europe and Russia. Then get a cheap flight back to Ireland from one of the poorer countries.
