I was thinking about getting a pedometer to keep track of distance walked and what not. Are there any reliable 1s that calculate accurately?

I came across a pedometer/watch on www.silvausa.com that uses sensors in the watch. It looks fairly cool. Worn on your wrist, i dont know how it works as a pedometer. But it claims its 95% accurate.

eh. i wouldn't waste yer money tbh. they're a bit of a gimmick. why do you need to know the distance travelled down to the nearest step? doesn't really help you in any way.

    'it looks fairly cool'

i can see you have the right priorities in mind

They're not entirely a gimmick. If you set yourself a goal of, say 10,000 steps a day, then a pedometer can help you make sure you get enough exercise done. Some people genuinely need that visible target to help them shift up a gear.

lisajane I would agree though that "looking cool" shouldn't be a particularly high priority for buying a pedometer . Buy cheap and cheerful and decide if you actually like using one. You can buy them in Marks and Spencers for €5 and they clip onto your waist.

If you have an ipod (and who doesn't at this stage) then you can buy a pedometer make by Nike for €29.

It's a great tool and very handy if you go jogging.
No it's not 100% accurate but it's a great motivational tool and a fantastic product

I'm not sure if it's suitable to use throughout your day like you're planning OP

i was thinking more along the lines of those ones that tell you how many calories etc you've burned, as they're usually way off and give you a huge overestimate of how much exercise you've *actually* done.

if you're gonna have a decent goal of 10,000 steps or something like that then fine, but there's no need to waste 100 quid on one like the fancy ones on the website . THOSE are a total waste of money
