    Hi Folks,

I was just wondering what people used to rip CD's in OS-X other than iTunes. Im not a fan of iTunes at all and I would like to avoid it if possible. I tried using Max (http://www.sbooth.org/Max/) but it appears that it will "encode" them but they are not output to the location I specified nor can I find them with spotlight (is it just me or is spotlight a disappointment for a built in search?)

    Dave

If you just want to copy the uncompressed audio files to your hard drive, simply drag and drop from the CD to wherever you want to put them. Conversion to other formats is a different issue - I use iTunes to convert to MP3, but I am sure there are alternatives.

    Try this:

    http://www.panic.com/audion/

It's pretty old and not maintained any more, but it's very lightweight and can do much more than one would think.
