Meet your TD for a 'Carbon Date' to ask for action on Climate Change

So Stop Climate Chaos, those great purveyors of mass emailing TDs, have come up with an interesting idea. Fill in a from and they send your local TDs a formatted email inviting them to an event where you (the lowly voter) can ask them how they intend to take action on climate change. Should be interesting to see if Mr Gormley turns up (I'm in his constituency). Just hope it is constructive... Either one of two things can happen - either no-one asks any questions or someone who believes we should be living in kabuts starts laying into them... But I firmly believe that seeing how I voted them in, they should understand my environmental concerns.

I have no faith that politicians are well informed on this issue or will take logical steps in mitigating the effects of climate change based on sound cost/benefit analysis.

I believe I heard one of the green td's recommend better insulation standards as it would save the people money (correct) and would reduce carbon emissions. I would argue that it won't make a difference to carbon emissions
in the long run as the money saved will be spent on other consumable items which are all produced with a carbon footprint.

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

totally agree on your point that politicians aren't that well informed on green issues (generally). it's sustainable this and sustainable that, but ask them for a definition of sustainability.... i do like this campaign as you are getting in the politicians' faces, questioning them, offering suggestions and information and support to those who support green. politicians have a huge variety of issues to deal with and seeing how environmental management and the like are only recently viable professions, they never considered studying ecology, green building or anything like that.

what matters are votes and if they think that there is a large group of the voting public who are willing to take time out to meet with them on environmental issues, then they can be sure that meeting will influence votes.

as for the point on what people do with their spare cash after they've saved tons of money on insulation - it costs money to put in insulation and if they are really going for the heafty savings then that would include attic, walls, floors, etc so the pay back is a few years. you'd also hope they'd see the advantage to being green...

Would not be at all comfortable providing this lot with any personal data until such time as they state very clearly what their policy is on the data they collect: they have zip on the site as to data protection /privacy etc.
Looking at the list of associations involved it is a receipe for mega spam/ begging letters/ as well as unfettled use of email addresses for 'other causes'
