I have the chance to take a week off from the 6th to the 13th of December.

I would love to go skiing but it might be too early for the appropiate weather.

Does anybody know what it would be the best place (if any) for those dates?

    Thanks,
    Gustavo

Glaciers will definitely have snow. The lower down resorts may do too. Somewhere like Zell am See might be an idea as they have both a glacier and a lower down resort accessible from the town.

There was lots of snow this weekend, Stubai near Innsbruck now has 130cm of snow, I think 50cm fell at the weekend. So you should be fine. Do check to see what ones are open right now.

Do you have any prefered direction to travel to ?

Switzerland just had a 55-year high in November snowfall and it looks set to continue.

Most of the major sites around here are planning on opening a few weeks early, which should have the later ones opening around Dec. 1.

My guess is that a goodly chunk of the French / Italian / Austrian alpine resorts will be no different, but I'll leave that for someone else to check.

I know the resort we go to near Salzburg in Austria has opened lifts early. I've seen the webcams, the snow looks fab already. The only problem is that the flights to Salzburg don't start until the 22nd December. You can maybe fly through London to Salzburg or try get flights to munich. It'd be great to get out on the snow before the main ski season starts!
