Up to 24% off Virgin Megastores Website

I felt this needed it's own thread. Yesterday there was a misprint for the Dr. Who series 1 box set and I found a voucher for (appartently) 10% off, but I'm just after re-checking it on the Godfather trilogy (£10.99) in Virgin, and it's giving me around 24% off. So, you add £2 on for delivery, and you would then, in this instance, get the Godfather trilogy for £9.89 (approx €14.23).

None too shabby! The voucher to be put in is VMD123. Virgin's website is here: https://www.virginmegastores.co.uk/

    Excellent stuff Myth.

Hmmmm.. Guitar Hero III for about €76!? I'm there!

But everytime i try and checkout, i get 'An Error Has Occurred' screen! Bah!

Same error, but it's still gone into my account. May be higher then 24%, just got £2.80 off a £8 + £2 delivery purchase :D

Edit: Didn't get the error on the last bit. I think the error comes from you being logged out. Check your account to see if it's been processed.

2nd Edit: Yeah, got errors on some things. It seems dependent on whatever product you're looking to buy. Was trying to see if it'd work on the Orange Box there :)

Yeah, thought it might be a delivery restriction on Guitar Hero due to it's size. And that was preventing it getting further.

But added 'The Simpsons' for Wii and getting the same error.

    Will try again tomorrow.

Just tried adding the same items I just 'bought' and got the errors. Perhaps I broke it :p

Seems to be a problem with it recognising you being logged in when you go to the checkout. The 'Hello X' by your account details disappears.

Will also try again tomorrow and report back.

Back working on Internet Explorer for me... Orange Box for £24.30 (€35), same as on Steam (give or take). Hrm.

    Yep, works fine on Safari.

Was about to order Guitar Hero III and spotted two items which appear to be the same but a fiver in the difference. Anyone explain?

Guitar Hero III or Guitar Hero III?

Will investigate further and buy it tomorrow.

So is it £2 delivery for everything?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 194 ✭✭lizzyd66

It is normally £2 per item - just off to try it myself. Free delivery and 10% off sounds a bit of all right!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,425 ✭✭✭indiewindy

Thanks OP just picked up house season one for about €15.50 got £3.20 (26%) off it at £11.99 plus £2 for postage. Great stuff:)

It says "free delivery on everything" on their site... then mentions £2 delivery (for each item) on the checkout screen... but doesn't charge for delivery.

That was my experience anyway. I was, however, using the VMD123 code (cheers Myth :)).

I've just seen that now too. Why are they doing that?

On topic, thanks OP used it to buy a couple of games from virgin.

Nice one, just pre-ordered season 3 of Entourage for £14.40 including postage after £3.60 discount. Works out at around €20.70 as against €24.99 on PLay.

I got a pre order for the Transformers DVD that cost me €15.53 but with the Red Dwarf sale currently happening you can get all the seasons (individually, with extras) for €8.90 each

    Anyone received their goods yet?

I saw codes like this before for Virgin, but they only honoured the discount when a Virgin Credit/Debit Card was used.

I hope this is not the case,

Not sure orders will arrive that quickly - there is still a huge backlog of mail to be cleared resulting from the UK postal strike. I am still waiting for an order that was dispatched on Oct 17.

    From the Virgin site:
The Royal Mail network continues to recover from the recent industrial action although clearing the build up of mail is taking longer than expected due to higher than normal levels of posting after the strikes. We understand that this is still having an effect on some orders that were placed as far back as the beginning of October.

I received this today for one of them:
Thank you for placing an order with Virgin Megastores on 03-11-2007. Your order number is X.
A list of recently despatched items in your order are shown below.
You can track the progress of your order in the 'My Account' section of Virgin Megastores at https://www.virginmegastores.co.uk/userlogin.jsf
    Your Contact/Billing Details

That was for the godfather trilogy, so that'll tell ya :)

Edit: Yeah, it's jumped into the "completed orders" section and is saying it is despatched. Sweet.

I was actually charged the full price for an item I ordered , even though the discound appeared to have been applied.
Might be worth checking your credit card statement.
I have sent them an email and am awaiting their response.

I used the discount to place two orders - Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed -
just checked my online Visa statement and it looks like I was charged the
correct discounted price as indicated when I checked out. Not bad for
    less than €49 each.
