Did you over charge it or something?

i use the TLP charger so i dont think so, its a nimh one and the charger has a cutoff (well it is supossed to have one!)...it looks like a dodgy seal on the battery...

Batteries may explode, pyrolize or vent if disassembled, crushed or
    exposed to high temperatures.
Do not wet the battery or place it in water or sea water. This may lead to the battery generating heat or rusting.

well i certainly didnt disassemble it or crush it, only got it yesterday and they really dont hold that much of a fascination for me tbh.

so unless an post put it in the sea as part of the delivery process that leaves the heat from the charging process...;)

i heard of this happening before, just never experienced it...

strange that it happened after i disconnected it from the charger. it had finished and gone on slow charge...felt warm, but not hot, pretty much like every other battery when charged...

anyways i contacted ehobby to ask about it...as it say this was the first charge....so obviously a dud...

Nah, once the chemical reaction starts its going to do bang. Fiach posted about the various stages before, and a similar thing happened to him/someone he knows.

Li-po's actually just go up in flames.

It sounds like my favourite battery malady, thermal runaway. The battery got hot enough during charging that it the heat began to continue the chemical reaction even when it was unplugged from the charger. Happens for a number of reasons but on battery packs like the ones in AEGs and rc cars is simply a short circuit. There should be a little rubber or paper-type ring between each battery to prevent the short but I've noticed these missing on some occasions. Also, if there was a nick missing from the heat-shrink around the batteries, this can also cause a short.

Your not the first person I've heard of who's had an Intelect blow on them Fall :( I use them myself and while I've had no trouble so far I keep hearing cases like yours. What I always do with my TLP though is never leave it unattended even with the auto cut-off. I check the battery heat level every 5-10 minutes and if I think it's getting too warm I shut down the charger. To this point I've never had to do that with my Intelects but I have with some other packs, mainly from clone AEG's.

Wolf had a battery from a JG G36 get close to blowing at HRTA a couple of months ago only I spotted it in time. The plastic started to bubble and the cells were weaping slightly. We pulled it and threw it outside but it didn't blow. I also had the plastic cover of a CYMA battery split during charging many moons ago.

Something similar happened to me last night. Got a new DE UMP on Sat but didnt get near it till last night. Charged the battery, took it off charge and left it sit for a few hours. Popped it back in the UMP. Pulled the trigger got one shot from it and it stopped working which I though was odd untill I saw smoke pouring out of the battery compartment!! Quick as I could I whipped out the battery and its burned down the length of it. Is it likely to have done any damage to the AEG?
