Increased weight, increased snoring?

It seems that, in the last month or so, I've started snoring. My girlfriend pointed this out, though initially I didn't believe her as in my 31 years I've only ever snored after a big piss-up, and even then only rarely.

Alas, last night I woke myself up 3 times with some fairly heavy snoring, and I don't understand where it's coming from! I always lie on my side or stomach, yet I'm still managing to keep my missus awake at night. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I've put on a fair bit of weight recently and I've noticed it effect the volume of my breathing.

It actually came up in the gym the other day too, and one of the lads who's recently dieted down a bit said that he was breathing and snoring much louder at the heavier bodyweight.

Have noticed this myself as well, though I think it also might have something to do with the extra volume of food needed to get bigger sitting in your stomach, though that is a theory of my own and don't have any scientific evidence to back it up.
