Title is the best I can do :D

    OK, heres the situation
    PC has a UPS connected
The UPS is a Powercom box and comes with software (upsmon)
There is an option to call pager built in to the software, or to email
What I want to do is get it to send an sms

I have an application on same pc for another purpose which will send sms using batch file upon trigger. The thing is, this upsmon software has a section in configuration which tells the pc to shutdown gracefully etc and there is an option in there to run command. I have added the full path and filename for the batch file, but every time we pull the power, it doesnt seem to run.

I am wondering if there is any other way, maybe using Windows Power options that I can trigger the batch file to run when the UPS kicks in after power failure??

Why not try a cheap Email2SMS gateway instead?

    LOL
Been trying Clickatell since I posted
Problem is, the email you have to send is a few lines long containing user id, password etc and the upsmon app only accepts a single line email

I remember using some of the cheap ones before and they were simple but cant remember who they were right now?? Any ideas?

I know that Vodafone have an option in their email service which will text you as soon as an email is received to the Vodafone account. I'm sure most mobile providers have something similar. Could you use something like that?

    Hi
I actually tried that with O2. I setup text alerts on an O2 account for email, but for some really strange reason, the app will not mail to that o2 address and whats worse, it goes into a loop of error messages saying it could not send the mail and pops up an error every 2 seconds. The only way to clear it is close the software and reboot the machine. Even closing the software and restarting doesnt solve it!!!

Is there somewhere in the App that will allow you to input the O2 outgoing mail (SMTP)?

Yes. Been trying a few smtp servers there today and its behaving very strange with most of them, as above message!! :(

Software is visually ok, but functionality is crap and help is terrible. Badly translated English etc

    <EDIT> Note the line.............
Can Run User defined command prior to shutdown to allow scripting of custom tasks.
