I feed my cats on a combination of Hill's Science Plan and ProPlan, but every so often I give them a tin of Kitekat or similar brand (McDonald's for cats) as a special treat as they much prefer it and go mad for it. It has just occured to me recently though that this might not be entirely fair. Could it be teasing them by giving them that and then presenting them with a dinner of something that's obviously less tasty, or would they think of it in the way that it's intended, as a treat? What does anyone else think?

I think they'd see it as a treat. I hope so anyway. I'd hate to think my dog is resenting me for not feeding him treats all day...

They make 'Doggie Gravey' ( example; http://www.pet-bliss.ie/acatalog/Doggy_Gravies.html ) for dogs which makes food nicer for them... they possibly sell it elsewhere for cats also, this could work as there treat but still be good for them.

Never heard of that Gravy stuff, thanks jameshayes. Will have a look around for it.

Good God no! It's not mean. It's a treat - plain and simple. I give mine one pouch (between them) of OhSoFishy once a month max and they love me for it but they also love the Hills food they get everyday.
