trading in 2 games tomorrow, so im looking for a game that meets the following criteria, or as close to as possible

    - ps3 exclusive
    - decent lenght single player game
    - good, solid online multiplayer content with a decent community so theres always a chance of a game
    - relatively new release (last 6 weeks perhaps)
    - not a fighting game or football game

a decent fps would be nice, but im semi holding off for the orange box and UT to cover that line of things.

i wouldnt be averse to a racer tho, or another form of sports game

Exclusive with good multiplayer and single player, don't think theres much at the moment, Warhawk is fantastic multiplayer but has no single player. Pretty much every fps is out on other systems. Unless you want to wait on Haze.

    have warhawk already

have the orange box for my 360 as well, but im barred from live, so cant play it online

I think Resistance: FOM is the closest game to your requirements, though its not one of my favourites. F1:CE is a very solid racer with online but I doubt there's many playing any more, I tend to only play single player. GRAW2 or Colin McRae:DiRT would also meet your requirements but neither are exclusive (they're two rare multiplatform games that are superior to the 360 versions though)

I'd recommend Folklore as my favourite PS3 game right now, but it's probably not what you're looking for at all, its basically an action RPG and single player only, though there's downloadable content and create your own level stuff that adds a slight online component.

If you hold out a couple of weeks you can get Haze though. It will comfortably meet all of your criteria and would probably be your best bet.

How come you're barred from Xbox live?

I'd wait for Haze if I were you aswell.

I bought Skate a couple of weekends ago, not exlusive but really good game.

have it and absolutely hate it, blander than a bread and butter sandwich

have this on the 360 and absolutely love it, would the multiplayer aspect warrant having it on the ps3 too tho?

thats the most promising ive heard of so far i must say, i could settle for a really in absorbing 1p game alright. would forego the online multiplayer if it was a belter of a game with a hefty shelf life

been thinking of skate alrite, is the multiplayer any use? ive no real need for games which are available on the xbox and which dont have decent multiplayer to them (for reasons outlined above)

The multiplayer is pretty good a good few different modes, like a mode where you have three rounds to get the best score on a single spot, a mode where all 4 of ye skate at the same time to get the highest single trick score on certain obstacles, jam mode where ye all skate at the same time to get the best combined score, death race which is just a race and spot race where you race but have to complete trick objectives during the race. You can edit your replays at any time and upload them to your skate page where people can vote on the footage. The single player mode is pretty absorbing and can take a good while to finish, and even once you do you have the whole city to explore and more spots to find. It was two weeks of playing it pretty much all the time bar for three days in the middle before I finished the main mode, and I still have a few challenges, and extra spots to find. It can be frustrating at times though tring to nail speciifc tricks. Good game though. There's no split-screen multiplayer offline though which is the only issue I really have with it, you just have the take it in turns to do tricks mode.

    that sounds pretty tasty actually

I haven't played the multiplayer a huge amount so not sure how long it'll keep me occupied, but there's 20 different spots for the spot challenges alone and there's different arenas for the best trick and jam challenges. The demo is on the Playstation store you should download it to give it a whirl, it gives a pretty good taste of the game. It was playing the demo that made me want to buy it.

If you're interested in Folklore there's a good review here.

It's a bit of an acquired taste - I know everyone wouldn't like it but the review should give you a pretty good idea. It's very different.

Re: DiRT, I wouldn't say its worth it just for online - being a rally game, you don't actually see the other players, you're time is just shown against there's in realtime. So basically you just see your position change as you go faster or slower. It can be quite fun but not worth buying the game twice for.

Lads this is bloody depressing reading.
