Great opponent, Eastman is a big step up in class and only top class operators have beaten him. At the same stage he is on the wane and for Duddy it is a good time to get him while his name still means something. We should learn a lot about Duddy in this bout.
I think Eastman is notoriously lazy in many of his fights and would expect Duddy to take him on points.

Eastman is a great move - however, I think its a lose lose fight. If he wins then people will say that Eastman was on the slide and he loses then Duddy was very going to be world class.

I'd like to see Duddy fight Elcock next if he beats Eastman - then Sylvester or Amin Assiken

A big fight for Duddy December 8th Kings Hall. Eastman is serious hitter with a long track record. Fair play to Duddy's camp for upping the class of boxer, I think if he can win this he can push to the top, it'll be a good challenge.

This is a huge step up in class for duddy, these are the sort of fights needed if you want to be a contender, fair play..

This is a very dangerous fight for Duddy.
Bearing in mind the problems he had with a 'shot' Yory Boy Campas, I'll be quite nervous for the duration of this fight.
While past his best Eastman can punch and has a good chin. Elcock beat him by movement, whereas Duddy will be coming straight at him.

I wouldn't be surprised with an Eastman victory here.

A prime Eastman oozed class , slick ,extremely accurate with his punches , plenty of power and a granite chin .

His problem however for all his career was workrate , his lost to an inferior fighter in William Joppy because of his relucantancy to throw punches and for the same reason he let Bernard Hopkins coast to an easy decision against him .
Eastman could of given Hopkins a very tough fight if he had just let his hands go .
The same reason was why he lost to Abraham and it has stopped him achieving a hell of a lot in his career . You ask knowledgable British boxing fans who is the greatest British fighter never to win a World title........they'll tell you Herol 'Bomber' Graham' , you ask them to name 2/3 after that and you are guaranteed to hear the name of Howard Eastman .

The problem for Eastman is , he had little workrate in his prime , now he has even less . Far less even and he's relying on little tricks and fouls to help him go the distance . His stamina is becomming a major problem , he's not losing fights because of his mental relucantancy to throw punches anymore but because he is too knackered to throw them .

John Duddy is going to get hit with almost every right hand Eastman throws and will take most of Eastman's punches fairly flush...........but he's still going to win . What Duddy has going for him is that he has a high punch output and will keep coming forward and making you work . He'll simply outwork Eastman and if Howard can't find the ko shot he will lose a decision .

There was a point where Eastman only lost to World class fighters , that day is gone . Not only did he lose to the pretty ordinary Wayne Eleock recently but I thought that he was lucky to get the decision over Evans Ashira .

Eastman can punch and because of that he will remain dangerous throughout , but I see Duddy picking up a decision along the lines of 116-112/115-113 winning nearly all of the late rounds .

Tough fight for Stephen Haughian against Grassellini but if he wins that it'll prove he's up to European level .

It'll be good to see McCloskey in a 12 rounder aswell and prospect Andrew Murray in against the in form James Gorman .

    A great nights boxing

Even past his prime Eastman has too much skill and power for Duddy to cope with. I think Eastman will win inside seven rounds.

    Great opponent.

John needs to start moving his head and duck and sway out of the way of punches

Yeah, RTE will be showing it live.

I think *Eastman is the perfect opponent for Duddy at this stage in his career, but a very dangerous one (this fight kind of reminds me of David Haye vs. Carl Thompson although I seriously doubt the fight will have a similar outcome).

Eastman is tall, awkward, has a decent chin plus he can bang but as said earlier in this thread he is lazy and lacks urgency. I've seen him in a few fights and he seems to just go through the motions even when there was alot at stake. The best example was in his WBA title fight with Willam Joppy he only really started to look dangerous in the last few rounds and he even dropped Joppy in the final few minutes but it was too little too late. That said, I still think he will give Duddy alot of problems, much more problems then Duddy got from ring worn warrior, Yori Boy Campas, so it will be a very close fight IMO.

Btw I already voted on the poll regarding this fight on another thread, I said Duddy will win a close points decision, but he is going to have to dig deep to get it.

*After Duddy's last fight me and a few mates were discussing Duddy's next logical opponent and I said either Howard Eastman or Richard Williams. I should of put a few quid on it now that I think about it :D
