    Hey Guys,

Finally got my slim (Bought it from the buy and sell , with 7 games and one movie ,a umd case, rubber psp holder, 32 mb mem stick and Also got a fat psp with a cracked plastic front for free :D:D too ! all for 200 , What a bargain !!!!)

The great thing is the fat psp works and it is 3.03 f/w on it and the Slim has 3.6 f/w on it.

So please tell me how to downgrade the 2 , and how to put cfw on them.

PS: I got the 2 GTA games with it and I think there is a 3.03 downgrader where you use Liberty City Stories ?

    Barry.

You best bet would to make a Pandora Battery to downgrade and mod both PSPs.
There are loads of tutorials that are very easy to follow on maxconsole & QJ & psp-hacks.

You need a 512MB MS to make the Pandora with all the files.

Oh ok , Well I have the fat psp now down to v1.5 , I think i just need a bigger mem stick to go on from here.

You should be good with 256mb mem card if you have one.
Google Pandora Gui 1.5 for an idiot and dead simple way to mod slim psp. It'll even download all the PSP EBOOTS if you don't have them already.

Remember that PSP Slim doesn't support 1.5FW so you are flashing blind with Pandora GUI 1.5. You just insert you Pandora Memcard & Battery and PSP should power on with no display, then press X to flash the prx mod files.

    N.B.
If using bigger MS card I seriously recommend making NAND dump before using the Pandora on Slim PSP, press [] to do this. It could save your Slim's life one day.

Well im gonna buy a 4gb card, and I see it says you can do it with a ''4gb+'' card, does that mean over 4gb or including a 4gb card ?

There is a now a completely idiot proof to mod any PSP as long as you have PSP with CFW already.
The guys at MAXCONSOLE have come up with ISO that you run from your MS and it will automatically create the Pandora Battery and MS with Ultimate Loader.
It'll take 5 mins to make and you can mod any FAT or SLIM PSP straight to the latest 3.71 M33-2 in one install.

Was wondering what was going on with that blank screen, been a while since i did a pandora, what happens after you press x?

It should power off automatically a few seconds after pressing X.
Things have changed in the last while, Despertar Cementerio v3 (DC V3) now has display support for PSP Slim and can upgrade direct to 3.71 M33-2 in one operation.

    Hi,

I just recently bought an old phat PSP and am using it as a media player for my travels. I have a couple of games only - Wipeout Pure & Pro Evo 5.

What will downgrading my firmware do for me? will it allow me to install extra codecs so that I don't have to convert xvid video to mp4?

Are there any good home brew apps? A better browser perhaps or a mail client?

    Thanks,
    MJ

Downgrading your firmware allows you to install custom firmware on your psp. That means that the psp can run unsigned code. The main benefits are the ability to play back-up games, emulators and homebrew apps.
Yes, you can play other codecs (mpeg, avi) but only to a certain extent (360X240 i think). I wouldnt get too excited about the homebrew apps they're not great (i mean browser or mail clients.) But it is definitely worth it for the emulators!

Thanks animaX, i guess I have been spoilt witht he level of homebrew available for the xbox. i was hoping that there might have been something similar to xbmc.

Are the homebrew games available any good at all?
I checked out some of the forums on psp hacks and stuff and most just seem to involve basic games of mario and sonic.
Is there many decent PS1 games available to play out there on an emulator for the PSP?

There is an official Sony PS1 emulator built into the 3.XX firmwares that has full emulation support for all PS1 games. There is also MAME and N64 emulator also.
If you have a custom firmware for PSP you can convert all your PS1 games to PSP format and play them prefectly.
I have played MGS, Oddworld, FFVII, Legacy of Kain, Silent Hill off my PSP.
