Yeah, some places won't like you wearing runners but if you're going to a club or some of the places eng soc used to go you'l definitely need shoes.

Edit: Oh, you're going to Down Under? Never liked that place. Wear shoes though, there are bouncers on the door.

Dublin is nothing like the country when it comes to footwear. The vast majority of places couldn't care less. Every pub and club in the city center wants to be seen as trendy with the young people and theres simply too much competition for the young euro for the type of bull**** that goes on in most Irish towns. You're going to an organised event in the club, you could be wearing your runners on your head and you'd still get in.

Meh, I'd still wear shoes. Would be a pain in the ass to turn around and not get in.

All depends. I wore runners to a clue on Sunday night. If your gona wear runners at least make sure they are clean!

I've seen bouncers in tons of clubs turn away runners, and its always on a random decision - you can rarely second guess em.

best bet - get yourself a nice pair of boots or alright looking shoes that are comfy enough - will do for everyday wearing as well, and will allow you to go out for a club on a spur of the moment thing :D

I've never had any problems with the runners issue. Last week I went to the pav unexpectedly and then went out to the Village. I was wearing runners and a hoody, bouncers didn't bat an eye-lid.
Don't think most place care, its more a personal choice. Some runners can be trendy as well depends on whether there you normal Air Max, Nike etc or fashion runners.
