Anyone know of a good beac hresort in Dubai to crash for approx 10 nights? Not looking to pay through the nose but also don't mind paying a reasonable rate

If you don't want to pay through the nose then stay away from the likes of The Jumeirah Beach, Mina A'Salam and of course the notorious expensive 7 star Burj Al Arab. Go for the hotels near the marina, the likes of the Habtoor Grand, Le Royal Meridian or The Hilton are all excellent beach side hotels. The cheapest is the Oasis Beach Hotel and that is right beside the last few that I mentioned.

I stayed in the Oasis on the beach It was really good , try get a sea view, but it is not cheap, The hotels all along the beach are the most expensive to stay in. The Oasis have apartments across the road from the hotel they are really class might be worth checking their prices .Remember the beach is 20 klm from the city and it can take over an hour by taxi to get to the city depending on traffic.
