Dell inspiron battery woes

I have an inspiron 6000 nearly 2 years now. It was my every-day computer up until a week ago when I got my own homebuilt up and running.

I generally left the power connector plugged in all the time

I now use it occasionally, and I have to use the wifi (only one cat5 socket coming into this room). The battery drains in nearly 25 minutes with the wifi on. This is not normal surely. I dont have the screen that bright, either.

Therefore can someone pretty much confirm for me what is wrong with it? Its out of warranty at this stage I think..

Well I don't think its a good idea to use the lappy while its charging. This causes the battery to overheat and the life of the battery to degrade. Would be a better idea to remove the battery and use it with the AC if you can.

If you haven't used the laptop in a while, the inactivity could cause its ability to retain a charge to degrade.

    What?

You actually think that is a Dell fault? Hmmm... It is a common problem with ALL laptop batteries where the user leaves the battery in and also plugged into AC power a lot of the time.
