I have been informed that there is a grant available for milking parlours and that it is due to expire this week because the allocated money has almost run out. Could somebody enlighten me please?

That's what I thought. A bit of scaremongering.

Ah well, two planning applications to get ready by Friday. :D

Unfortunately your contact who told you it was expiring was 100% correct. The FIS (Farm Improvement Scheme), the follow-on scheme to the Farm Waste Management Scheme, was declared closed on 31.10.07- as its entire fund (which had originally been anticipated to last until 2013) has been disbursed. Despite the 31.10.07 cut-off date, the funds had actually been fully allocated 10 days earlier on the 21st- so despite the fact that numerous applications continued to be submitted up until the 31st- the more recent applications are not going to be processed.
