im currently on a bulk up thats going to last for roughly 12 weeks.now im splitting it into into 2 six week sessions.but does anyone know if it is advisable to take 2 weeks off either bulking or 2 weeks off weights entirely between the sessions.ive heard its a good way of giving the body a rest and to stop your body adapting to the training.is this true?
    so what would YOU recommend?

Dont see the point in a 'bulk up' - that equals get fat and maybe put on some muscle.

    Just put on muscle period!

To be honest it's just about balancing calories and watching what you eat. If you're training hard and stimulating muscle growth, which you should be, then take in a small surplus of calories to enable muscle growth. That could be anywhere as little as 500 kcals. Monitor and watch yourself. If after a week or even 2 weeks you record having increased fat% then simply reduce the calories till you are seeing increases in your weight, but not in your body fat.

All too often people "bulk" and see it as an excuse to over eat. The truth is if you aim to add 10lbs of lean muscle to your body of a 12 month period (a reasonable goal) then you only need an extra 16g of protein a day, that's about a glass of milk. You only really need to go slightly beyond maintenance levels. A bulk means harder training, not over eating.

Most people who 'bulk' havent a clue about structuring a program and do not train hard enough.

Balance the calories and watch your carb intake.

Finally, if your primary focus is getting bigger then get focus on getting stronger NOT FATTER!

well now is a better time if you insist on doing it. I am eating more now as I find it helps stave off colds & other ailiments I tend to get in the colder months. I expect I will put on a little fat, but I dont really care, I know I will lose it easily come spring.

I am coming off a deficit, so it is not really a big increase, probably 500kcal over my basal, but maybe 1000kcal difference to what I was eating a while back. I have put on about 9lb of weight on in the last 2-3weeks, but I know it is impossible that it is all fat or muscle, probably water and just all the food in me- started on creatine again which is meant to add water weight.

Exactly. My best gains always come when I'm working on getting stronger. I never really think about getting bigger at all. It's always... "get stronger and eat enough to recover, and don't e afraid to treat yourself". That's sum up my mentality.

If your body weight is going up but your strength is not then its pretty likely that you are putting on fat for which there is absolutely no need at all
