Problem Broadband +phone socket.

We have three phone sockets in house, when i plug in cable from modem to a particular socket people cant get through to our landline even when i have dsl filter fitted and all that is heard is interference on line. this has only happened recently and everything was working fine till yesterday. We have three phone sockets in house, when i plug in cable from modem to a particular socket people cant get through to our landline even when i have dsl filter fitted and all that is heard is interference on line. this has only happened recently and everything was working fine till yesterday. A cable from affected socket goes under a door so may have become damaged, is this likely the problem? When i plug out the broadband cable from affected socket the landline can be called no problem.
