HI- hope someone can help. I live in 3 storey house and have gas boiler. I cannot get any heat in the Top floor of the house's radiators. The rads work on the other 2 floors. I have closed all the other rads to try and force pressure up there. I have tested all the rads for airlocks and seem to be fine.
I had this problem last year got out a plumber who twisted a valve in the hot press which increased the pressure there. I have tried this but still nothing happening the pipe up to the top is cold and you cannot feel warmth or hear water going up there?
The Pressure gauge on the boiler when on was only at about 0.5, when I look at the booklet it does not say how to increase the pressure? House is about 4yrs old so boiler is not that old. Any advice would be great.

If you have a sealed system (which you probably do in a 4 yr old house), then every time you loosen the bleed screw on a rad you also release some of the pressure in the system. Typically, when the system is cold, the pressure should be around 1 bar. You say that the gauge read 0.5 bar when running which is a bit on low side. The valve the plumber twisted in the hot press is most likely the filler valve which is essentially a tap that you open to allow water into the system. Open this valve for a few seconds when the system is cold and see if the pressure gauge rises. It's best to open the valve for brief periods to avoid over-pressurising the system.

Thanks Yep opened the top rads it is quite open. I did open it for a small period but noticed no change in the pressure or heard any water coming up the system like I hoped so have closed it off again.

I have an oil fired central heating system in a house that is only 8 years old. Don't know if this applies to your system, but I had the problem in a 2-storey house where some of the rads were not heating. I got the plumber who originally installed the system and he told me that while the boiler is a very good one it just about services the 20 odd rads I have but what he did do is replace the pump (€160) total cost and that has made a huge difference. So maybe you could enquire about this. Hope it helps.
