Quick question on self-employed tax returns

Say the amount of tax you owe is lower than your tax credits? E.g., you owe €2000 of tax, but you have €3000 tax credits?

    What happens?

Also, say you worked freelance for a client who you charged €2000, but your pay-slip for the job registers that you paid tax and PRSI to the tune of €1060 (too much tax), what happens regarding Revenue and working out how much tax you owe/are owed?

You just fill in the form and they'll get back to you (in about 10 years) to let you know how much you owe, or will get back. If you haven'y used your tax credits you'll get a refund, but you still need to complete the form.
