Just reading a few bits on the racing post, for some reason this excellent horse really caught my imagination,

he was never invincible but always had the ability to win any race he really put his mind to, a sad end to a great entertainer.

I blame O'Brien/Coolmore, the horse should never have ran on that slop. He could have 2 Breeders Cup miles under his belt if they hadnt been greedy thinking about stud fees last year and i dont know what they were thinking this year. Disgraceful imo.

Possibly a bad decision to run but these things can't be predicted.

    A great horse, RIP

It's easy to play the blame game, I'm sure Coolmore made an educated decision and to see you lamblast them is astounding.

How can you criticise someone for disagreeing with a decision made?
No one in this world is infallible not even o'Brien & Magner.
In this scenario, some of the decision making has to be questioned.
Personally I think they should have given him another year. He has not been the same horse this year.

This performance made the hairs on the back of my neck tingling.
    RIP Gorgeous George.

    A loaded question.

Anyhow, not the thread for discussing views on opinions/criticism, am available via PM if you think this justifies a response, which I don't think it does. ;)

No need to be pointing fingers. Running him probably was the wrong decision but it's always easy to be wise after the event. O'Brien is usually very meticulous in his handling of horses and no doubt the decision to run him is one he regrets now, but you can't foresee something like that.

The whole thing was a farce really, surely they can do better for what is supposed to be the cream of horse racing. A tight awkward track caked in mud didn't make for much of a spectacle. It's a sad end to a horse who was a character as well as a talented animal. I'm sure he will be missed, the stable staff were said to be very upset and O'Brien himslef left the track in tears.
