    OG makes it 1-1

Tamudo dives player gets sent off 1-2 espanyol

Mallorca player dives get 2nd yellow.

In 5 minutes they went from 1-0 to 2-1 down with 9 men :D

Every weekend theres a 'La Liga Madness', 'La Liga Chaos' or 'La Liga carnage' thread!

    Looks like it's 2-2 now!

Bilbao-Betis is on at 10, I'll probably have a look at that but I'm not expecting much.

Cos it is, nearly impossible to predict a game no matter who is playing.

Jaysus, this match is painful to watch. :( 10 mins left and it's still 0-0. The only good thing about either of these teams is Bilbao's philosophy of only picking players from the Basque Country.

Will the madness never end? I doubt it. :)

Extreme nurturing of home-grown talent or casual racism, you decide!? :)

I remember I did a Championship Manager season where I only signed British players....

To be fair altho i dont agree with it, there is a nice touch that any useful basque player will make it a priority in life to play for them.

Cant ignore the player "choice" in no matter what or who they are they will ensure they play for Atletico at some stage. Imagine Exterrabia at any Cl winning team and guy wouldnt look out of place.

Gotta love the romantic notion that players are fans.

You have to take the political climate in the region into account aswell. National identity and Basque seperatism are huge influences on people there, both culturally and otherwise. It's all about showing everybody else how self-sufficient they are and this extends to everything, especially football.

It's only really so prevalent with Athletic though, which most likely has a lot to do with Bilbao being the capital of the region. Teams like Alaves and Sociedad don't seem to be that politically motivated and don't mind signing foreign players.

It's fairly extreme in the case of the Basque country but Catalunya in general and Barcelona specifically have quite a few political aspirations aswell.

So so performance from Barca earlier. Ronaldinho was muck tonight. Giovanni took a dive for the penalty as well. Decent game though.

Villarreal are such a weird side. They were top of the table after 6 games having conceded no goals apart from the 0-5 home drubbing at the hands of RM. Then they rolled over Barca quite comfortably last weekend only to get hammered this weekend by Zaragoza. 4-0 down it finished 4-1.

Madrid and Barca continue their 100% home records this season. Raúl and Van Nistelrooy were at it again, Raúl scoring 13 years to the day since he made his debut at the age of 17.

Quique Sánchez Flores looks a goner at Valencia. Their fans are the most ungrateful and impossible to please in Spain - Cuper got them to 2 CL finals but couldn't win them over, same with Benitez despite winning 2 league titles and the Uefa Cup. Flores has no chance.

Sure, they started loving him when it was apparent they were going to win the league and uefa cup double. Before then they had been giving him a hard time. Possibly because their league triumph in 2002 was achieved with Baraja as their top scorer with 8... the following season they wanted Ranieri back in charge.
The club itself have tried to write Benitez out off their history which may explain why Valencia fans still chant his name.

    Well that didn't take long
The Valencia reported at 03:52 pm, the dismissal of Quique Sanchez Flores as coach of the team. After the defeat at Seville (3-0), Juan Soler convened a meeting of the council, which has decided to consider his ouster the situation "irreversible." Oscar Fernandez, technical subsidiary, takes charge of the team for the moment.

    Mourinho for Valencia?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,563 ✭✭✭kinaldo

Possibly. I'm sure he would love nothing more than to surpass Rafa's achievements at the Mestalla.
