    wow, I really don't remember that from 2001, is it from the sequel? (obviously I realise the new lines are added for HAL) but I don't recall that scene from 2001 and the ship looks different

    It's from the original - I just watched it a couple of weeks ago. Sure it's one of the famous lines from the movie - open the pod bay doors.

    I know the line, but I didn't remember Dave wearing a red space suit, I thought it was white and as I said I thought the ship looked odd

    Nope - there's no white suit either that they wear. There's a blue and a yellow as well. It's a cool suit too, I want one.
    The ship wasn't how I had remembered it either - odd that!
