Apparently there's rumours of running a summer tournament for England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland should England and Scotland fail to qualify for Euro 2008.
It would be nice to see Ireland in a competition and have a crack at England, but is it just a bit sad to organise your own tournament because you can't qualify for a real one? It's pretty pathetic either way.

I think it'd be nice. The grandslam would be the goal for England, anyone else would take the win :)

There's been talk about this going on for a good few months maybe even over a year ago. It appeared it would just be between N.I, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Anyone else get the feeling if this does happen that you could see things kicking off between rival fans.

There was no mention of England being in it at all initially. Probably because the FA refused to contemplate the thought of not qualifying.

The talk was August iirc, and id love to see the Scots make it to Euro 08.

Didn't it end in the first place because England couldn't be bothered hanging out with her 'poor relations' anymore?

Does this mean we're Brits again if we can compete in the Home Internationals? Next we'll be talking about 'the mainland'. ;)

An inappropriate title, but beggars can't be choosers. Irish soccer is living off scraps at the moment (and not even the interesting fisticuffs type:D). A short, sharp shock like a four match comp. might help concentrate minds. I think it's been so long since we've been in anything (1 tournament in 13 years) that it's all gone a bit ar$eways. Long drawn out qualifiers with nothing at the end of them has become a neverending cycle at this stage.
