Aer Lingus have increased fuel surcharges by 30% for long haul flights.

Which is €65 for LAX/DXB flights....... would almost certainly put me off flying with them. US carriers operating to Ireland do not have fuel surcharges

Yup the low fares airline my árse

You go into their site enticed by their advertised "low fare" to New york and you get stung by an un advertised €100 rip off for the fuel...

I don't think they ever reduced their fuel surcharge when the price of fuel came down, citing that the savings would take time to filter down before the surcharge would be reduced.

Now that fuel is going up again, the surcharge gets slapped on instantaneously...

    Go figure.

I hate those tactics. All I want to know is how much it will cost, the final fare should be displayed from the beginning

    Especially Ryanair with their
    Fare £0.01
    Taxes and Charges £24.94
    Wheelchair levy £2.50
    Credit Card Fee £5.00
    Cost of paying staff £3.40
    Cost of buying plane £5.90
    Fuel £5.28
    and so on
    and so on

Obviously the fare is low when you don't take into account every cost that running an airline entails!
